Terms of Service (Draft) — Effective February 2026
This is a draft set of terms suitable for pilot use. It is not legal advice. We will refine it before broader launch.
Platform role & no liability▾
- BarterSci provides a platform to list tasks and exchange proposals.
- BarterSci is not a party to agreements between users.
- Users are solely responsible for verifying details, conducting due diligence, and using their own agreements (including NDAs and contracts) as appropriate.
- BarterSci is not responsible for IP theft, misconduct, payment disputes, safety issues, or any damages arising from user interactions.
User responsibilities▾
- Provide accurate information.
- Only upload content you have rights to share.
- Do not use the platform for illegal activity, harassment, or spam.
- Use secure collaboration practices (NDAs, scope clarity, documented handoffs).
Content & intellectual property▾
- You retain ownership of the content you submit.
- When you post a task or proposal, you grant BarterSci a limited license to display it to operate the platform.
- Any IP/licensing transfer between users must be handled by users in their own agreements.
Messaging & safety▾
- Messaging availability depends on user privacy settings and platform rules.
- We may take action against accounts involved in abuse or policy violations.
Changes▾
We may update these Terms and the Privacy Policy. Continued use of the platform after updates means you accept the updated terms.
Practical note
For sensitive collaborations, use your organization’s legal templates and processes. BarterSci’s summaries and UI are for convenience and coordination, not legal enforceability.
