Acceptable Use Policy

This Acceptable Use Policy (“AUP”) governs your use of the BarterSci platform, websites, applications, APIs, and services (collectively, the “Platform”) operated by Amelix Solutions LLC (“Amelix,” “we,” “us,”). It is incorporated by reference into the Terms of Service. Capitalized terms used but not defined here have the meanings given in the Terms of Service. Violations of this AUP may result in content removal, Account suspension or termination, reporting to authorities, and legal action.

1) General principles

BarterSci is a venue for scientific collaboration, exchange, and barter. You are expected to use the Platform lawfully, ethically, professionally, and in a way that respects other users, the Platform, and third parties. You are responsible for your conduct, your User Content, and any Transactions you initiate or join.

2) Prohibited content

You may not post, upload, share, transmit, or link to content that:

Violates any Applicable Law, regulation, or third-party right;
Is fraudulent, deceptive, or misleading, including false claims about identity, affiliation, credentials, licensure, certifications, employment, or capabilities;
Infringes or misappropriates intellectual property, trade secrets, or other proprietary rights;
Discloses third-party confidential information without authorization;
Is defamatory, libelous, harassing, threatening, intimidating, abusive, hateful, discriminatory, or promotes violence;
Sexually exploits or endangers minors in any way;
Contains pornography, sexual services, or sexually explicit material;
Promotes or facilitates self-harm, eating disorders, or suicide;
Is gratuitously violent, gory, or disturbing;
Promotes terrorism, extremism, or the financing of either;
Promotes or facilitates the use, manufacture, or transfer of illegal drugs, controlled substances, weapons, or explosives;
Promotes the development, production, acquisition, or transfer of weapons of mass destruction (chemical, biological, radiological, nuclear), or items subject to export controls in violation of Applicable Law;
Promotes or solicits gambling not authorized by Applicable Law;
Discloses other people’s personal information (doxing) without authorization;
Includes unsolicited advertising, pyramid schemes, multi-level marketing, or chain communications;
Falsely associates content with Amelix, BarterSci, or any third party;
Includes malware, ransomware, viruses, time bombs, exploits, or any code or process intended to harm or compromise systems or data; or
Is designed to evade content moderation, age verification, geographic restrictions, or other safety controls.

3) Prohibited conduct

You may not, and may not assist or permit others to:

Use the Platform to engage in unlicensed clinical, medical, veterinary, psychological, legal, accounting, or other regulated practice;
Conduct human-subjects research, animal research, or biosafety-level work without all required institutional, ethical, and regulatory approvals;
Solicit, sell, transfer, or coordinate the transfer of biological agents, toxins, select agents, controlled substances, radioactive materials, dual-use items, or items requiring an export license, except in strict compliance with all Applicable Law;
Use the Platform in violation of U.S. Export Administration Regulations (EAR), the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR), EU dual-use regulations, the UK Export Control Order, or any sanctions program of the U.S., UN, EU, UK, or other applicable jurisdiction;
Engage in or facilitate transactions with sanctioned persons or restricted parties;
Impersonate any person or entity, or misrepresent your affiliation;
Create or use multiple Accounts to evade enforcement actions, manipulate ratings or visibility, or engage in coordinated inauthentic behavior;
Harvest, scrape, crawl, spider, or otherwise extract data from the Platform without our prior written consent, except as permitted by a robots.txt file we publish or by an officially documented API;
Use the Platform to train machine-learning models on user data without authorization;
Send spam, bulk unsolicited messages, or mass identical solicitations through the Platform;
Use bots, automation, or scripts to interact with the Platform in ways not expressly authorized;
Probe, scan, or test the vulnerability of the Platform without prior written authorization, or breach security or authentication measures;
Interfere with or disrupt the integrity, performance, or availability of the Platform, including denial-of-service attacks, flooding, or excessive request rates;
Reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble the Platform, except where Applicable Law expressly prohibits such restrictions;
Copy, modify, distribute, sell, lease, sublicense, or create derivative works of any part of the Platform that is owned by Amelix or its licensors;
Remove, obscure, or alter any proprietary notices on the Platform;
Use the Platform for activities that endanger public safety, public health, the environment, or critical infrastructure;
Use the Platform to violate institutional, employer, funder, sponsor, or grantor policies applicable to your participation; or
Engage in any activity that, in our reasonable judgment, exposes Amelix, the Platform, or any user to legal liability, regulatory risk, or reputational harm.

4) Safety and laboratory work

If you initiate, accept, or participate in any Transaction involving laboratory or field work, you are solely responsible for safety, training, supervision, personal protective equipment, standard operating procedures, material transfer agreements, biosafety and biosecurity approvals, ethical review, animal welfare approvals, radiation safety, regulatory registrations, insurance, and compliance with all Applicable Law and institutional policies. Amelix does not supervise, certify, or inspect any laboratory or facility. See the Terms of Service, section 9.

5) Reporting violations

If you become aware of content or behavior that violates this AUP, please report it to legal@amelixllc.com with as much detail as possible (including links and screenshots). To report intellectual-property infringement, follow the DMCA notice instructions in the Terms of Service.

6) Enforcement

We may, in our sole discretion and without notice, take any action we deem appropriate to enforce this AUP, including warning the user, restricting features, removing or hiding content, suspending or terminating Accounts, blocking IP addresses, reporting to law enforcement, and pursuing civil remedies. We may preserve and disclose information when we believe in good faith that doing so is necessary to investigate violations, comply with Applicable Law, or protect users or third parties.

7) Changes

We may update this AUP from time to time. Updates will be posted with a new “Last Updated” date. Continued use of the Platform after an update constitutes acceptance of the updated AUP.
